Good News And Really Bad News uuggh

August 16th, 2008 at 01:10 pm

Ok so I have so good news and some majorly depressing news. I’ll start with the good news. I paid walmart off today YAY!!! One less credit card! Now potentially upsetting news. Got the quote for my teeth today. Keep in mind this is just MY teeth, still have to get the quote on my husband and daughters too. The estimated total for fillings will be $3080!! Yes that is 28 teeth filled at $110 each! That doesn’t count the one tooth they are having to refer me to the oral surgeon for because my last stupid dentist broke a file off in the root while doing a root canal, and now it needs to be pulled, so no telling how much that will cost!! This is so crazy, how do you have a cavity in every tooth in your mouth? Well, I guess I do know, so many years of drinking mountain dew and pepsi like crazy. Plus I am 20 now and that was the first time I had seen a dentist since I was 14. this is definitely going to push back my house plans a little, but I am just glad I went now, so I can get this crap over with while I am already working over time. Ok that was my grouchy vent for the day, every body have a great Saturday!!

I agree with Nic, it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion, you could probably even just call a dentist and ask what their cost per filling is.

And you're right, at least you caught the problem now, and it won't get any worse! And congrats on paying off Walmart... one less worry!

Wow that's too bad. Makes me appreciate my crappy job with good dental coverage now. I need another cavity filled soon. I agree you should look for a better deal but don't put it off too long as the problem could get worse. Good luck!

I agree with all the others. See if you can get a cheaper services elsewhere.

I am thinking that the dentist is not going to be able to all of them at once. They usually work on one side at a time so you can chew freely on the other side while the fillings dry up. Maybe they can break down the payments with diffrent installments?

Maybe break the Mountain Dew and Pepsi habit? I know that is a tough one to break.

I just quit smoking myself and wow it's been worth every penny of saving pocket money. I'm sure it's going to add up healthwise down the road too.

wow, i too hadnt been to the dentist in 6 years (since i was 15 or 16) but fortunately i only had about four or five fillings to get - still cost around $800 though. hopefully you can get it all done though, its worth it when it's your own teeth!
